Goatheads' roster officially hits double-digits

ECHL franchise adds right winger Jake Chiasson and forward Dakota Seaman

The New Mexico Goatheads鈥 roster is now past the halfway point.

The Colorado Avalanche鈥檚 ECHL affiliate announced the signings of forward Dakota Seaman on Tuesday and right winger Jake Chiasson on Thursday for the 2026-27 season. 

Seaman and Chiasson are the ninth and 10th players, respectively, to sign with the first-year franchise, which begins its inaugural campaign Oct. 16 at the Rio Rancho Events Center.

ECHL teams are allowed a maximum of 20 players 鈥 18 skaters and two goaltenders 鈥 after the first month of the regular season. 

The Goatheads currently have six forwards and four defensemen on their roster.

, a 6-foot-1, 210-pound Canadian, appeared in 24 games last season for the ECHL鈥檚 Tulsa Oilers.The 24-year-old logged 38 penalty minutes. 

Seaman spent his first year in the league between the Allen Americans, Wheeling Nailers and Indy Fuel. He played in a combined 18 games.

The 23-year-old Chiasson, meanwhile, has spent the past three seasons bouncing between the and after being selected by the Edmonton Oilers in the fourth round of the 2021 NHL draft.

The 6-foot-2, 182-pound Canadian split last season between the AHL鈥檚 Belleville Senators (20 games, 1 assist) and ECHL鈥檚 Allen Americans (14 games, 2 goals, 6 assists).

In 2024-25, Chiasson appeared in 19 games with Belleville and 20 with the ECHL鈥檚 Orlando Solar Bears (1 goal, 6 assists). He spent most of his first professional season with the ECHL鈥檚 Fort Wayne Komets (68 games, 9 goals, 11 assists).
