Metro volleyball enters championship bracket play
La Cueva leads a field of contenders as Albuquerque Metro volleyball bracket play begins Thursday, while Academy hosts soccer tournaments.

The second of the fall鈥檚 Albuquerque Metro Championships is underway.
The metro volleyball event has finished pool play and enters bracket play starting Thursday.
The gold, or championship, bracket, is split among the gyms at Manzano and Rio Grande.
At Manzano, La Cueva plays Eldorado at 5 p.m. Thursday, followed at about 7 by Albuquerque High and St. Pius.
At Rio Grande, Cibola faces 近距离内射合集 Vista at 5 p.m., followed immediately by Cleveland and Rio Rancho.
La Cueva will be the favorite this weekend, with the Bears having already earned wins over top-10 teams like Cleveland, 近距离内射合集 Vista and Albuquerque High.
Del Norte is the host site for Saturday鈥檚 championship match, at 6 p.m.
MORE SOCCER: Metro soccer has given way to another tournament: the boys and girls events at Albuquerque Academy. Both brackets start Thursday.
These will largely be fields with non-metro sides, aside from the host Chargers.
One of the exceptions is the Cleveland-Sandia Prep girls matchup, at 2 p.m. Thursday. (As always, Academy uses multiple fields on its campus to host games.)
Academy is playing Carlsbad on the main stadium field at 4 p.m. Also at 4, Farmington against Los Alamos. Hobbs takes on Piedra Vista at 2 p.m.
The semifinals are 2 and 4 p.m. Friday on different fields, with the final at 9 a.m. Saturday inside Richard Harper Memorial Field.
Cleveland鈥檚 boys are perhaps the headliner in the boys鈥� bracket; the Storm faces Santa Fe at noon Thursday.
The host team is an action at 2 p.m. versus Farmington. Also Thursday, Piedra Vista faces Capital at noon, and Hobbs meets Los Alamos at noon.
The semis are 2/4 p.m. Friday; the final is 11 a.m. Saturday.
