鈥楤ones and Soft Bellies鈥�

The Harwood Art Center is showing 鈥淏ones and Soft Bellies: Companions for the 6th Extinction鈥� now through Sept. 12. The exhibit features the work of Li Ming Chu. There will be an artist reception and talk at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 22. The gallery is open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday-Saturday. Harwood Art Center is located at 1114 Seventh St. NW. The Tomato Fiesta is coming to the Albuquerque Garden Center from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 23. Get growing tips and advice from experts, partake in some heirloom tomato tasting, enjoy live music by Juanita and more. Admission is $5, with children under 12 getting in for free. Butterfly in the sky

Learn all about butterflies from Ren茅e Robillard at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 22. Take a guided butterfly identification walk and learn how to ID local species and their habitats. There will also be an educational slideshow on the 鈥淏utterflies of Open Space.鈥� The event is free. The Open Space Visitor Center is located at 6500 Coors Blvd. NW.

Southern comfort

Sean Dietrich, humorist, multi-instrumentalist, and standup storyteller, is bringing 鈥淪ean of the South Live in Albuquerque!鈥� to the South Broadway Cultural Center at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 25. Tickets are $35-$45 at artsandculture.cabq.gov. The South Broadway Cultural Center is located at 1025 Broadway Blvd. SE.

Adventure to Chaco

The Chaco Culture National Historical Park is hosting three special events on Saturday, Aug. 22. At 9 a.m. take a 7.5-mile Supernova Hike on the park鈥檚 longest backcountry trail. Then at 11:30 a.m. there will be a Buckskin Tanning Lecture with Edwin Shije in the visitor center auditorium. Finally, at 3:30 p.m., learn about Archeoastronomy at Chaco. Admission into Chaco Culture National Historical Park is $15-$25, and free for those with the America the Beautiful pass.

鈥楪o Daddy-O鈥�

Big Bad Voodoo Daddy is bringing its blend of jazz and swing to the KiMo Theatre at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 27. Tickets are $39-$64 at artsandculture.cabq.gov. The KiMo is located at 423 Central Ave. NW.

Just add water

The New Mexico Watercolor Society is showing an 鈥淎lternate Spaces鈥� exhibit at the National Hispanic Cultural Center in the LaFonda del Bosque restaurant through Oct. 13 from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday-Friday, and 5-8 p.m. Friday. The show features over 90 paintings by 40 artists. Admission and parking are free and all the works are for sale. The NHCC is located at 1701 Fourth St. SW.
