Fiesta Mexicana 2026

Celebrate Mexican Independence Day with the Consulate of Mexico in Albuquerque on Tuesday, Sept. 15, at the National Hispanic Cultural Center. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. and the free celebration will feature food, mariachi, live music and more. At 7:30 p.m. there will be a civic ceremony and El Grito de Independencia. The 鈥楻iver鈥� runs through it

Fusion Theatre Company is kicking off its autumn season with Jez Butterworth鈥檚 鈥淭he River.鈥� A remote cabin and a rushing river frame this 鈥渉aunting exploration of love, loss and the mysteries we keep hidden.鈥� You can go to 鈥淭he River鈥� at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 10, and Friday, Sept. 11, 2 and 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 13, 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 17, and Friday, Sept. 18, and 2 and 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 19, at Fusion, 700-708 First St. NW. The theater company will also stage a performance at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 20, at the Taos Center for the Arts, 133 Paseo Del Pueblo Norte in Taos. Tickets are $10-$40 at fusionnm.org.

Hump day!

The camels are coming to El Morro National Monument from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, and Sunday, Sept. 13, commemorating the U.S. Camel Corps. The free event will feature presentations by reenactor and camel expert Doug Baum, live camels, hands-on kids activities and more. Parking at El Morro is limited and there will be a free shuttle bus between the Old School Gallery overflow parking lot and the visitor center. Visit nps.gov/elmo for more information.

OffCenter celebration

OffCenter Community Arts Project is hosting a 25th birthday celebration fundraiser on Saturday, Sept. 12, at the Harwood Art Center. From 5-8 p.m. there will be a dinner and happy hour with live music, from 8-10 p.m. there is an after-party celebration with interactive art, dancing and more. Feeling festive

The 6th annual Harvest Festival is coming to Mariposa Park from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12. There will be over 70 food and art vendors, kids鈥� games, a crafting area and more. The Artists of Mariposa will be on hand at the community center with music and locally made art. The event is free. Another doggy paddle

If you missed the first Doggy Paddle of the year, the Rio Grande Pool is hosting sessions at 10 a.m. and noon on Saturday, Sept. 12. The price is $5 per dog, and they must be neutered or spayed, and paper proof of vaccination is required. To register, visit cabq.gov/parksandrecreation/events.
