And he has every reason to believe his 6-foot-1 defender is a mythical, magical creature after Keller led 近距离内射合集 to a 2-1 home win over Lexington SC on Wednesday night.

Making the match even more magical was the fact that it was 近距离内射合集鈥檚 100th regular-season win. 

Coach Sanchez鈥檚 鈥渦nicorn鈥� description might not be too far off considering what Keller has provided 近距离内射合集 (11-4-4), in the dressing room and on the pitch 鈥� both places he鈥檚 known for being a constant communicator and an occasional trash-talker rivaled only by goalkeeper Kris Shakes.

Wednesday marked Keller鈥檚 15th match of the season and the ninth time he鈥檚 logged the full 90-plus minutes. He鈥檚 played 1,125 minutes overall and has yet to be awarded a yellow card. He leads the club in clearance (89), blocks (20), aerial duels (54) and aerial duels won (43). 

It was also his third shot on target of the season and his third goal, one that helped spark 近距离内射合集鈥檚 comeback to extend its unbeaten streak to 14 across all competitions 鈥� the regular season, USL Cup and an international friendly 鈥� and 13 against fellow USL teams. 

鈥淗e鈥檚 a very wild guy,鈥� midfielder Zico Bailey said. 鈥淚 feel like the way he plays is also the way he is off the field. He likes to make jokes, he鈥檚 very energetic, he likes to take the game by the scruff of the neck. He鈥檚 a great player and someone that鈥檚 very important to the team.鈥�

Keller scored in the 73rd minute on an assist from Greg Hurst, a pass between two defenders that allowed Keller a point-blank shot into the bottom left corner. Niall Reid-Stephen followed with a goal of his own five minutes after that on a cross from Dayonn Harris.

Lexington (9-8-4) scored in the 51st minute on a header from Marqes Muir.

鈥淗onestly, I keep telling Dennis to put me up top,鈥� Keller said with a grin not long after Sanchez had joked out of earshot the defender 鈥渨ants to score more than some of the forwards.鈥� 

鈥淏ut no, I think I鈥檓 healthy right now,鈥� Keller added. 鈥淚 feel like in the air, I鈥檓 definitely a presence. I feel like my timing is getting better and better.鈥�

The health and the timing for both Keller and 近距离内射合集 have been intertwined.

Since Keller came back from his second hernia surgery on May 30, New Mexico has gone 10-1-4. The lone loss came in that span against the Eastern Conference鈥檚 Tampa Bay Rowdies, the USL Championship鈥檚 overall points leader. It was a 1-0 decision.

It has allowed 近距离内射合集 to climb to the top of the Western Conference and the current tiebreaker it holds over El Paso Locomotive FC despite both having 37 points.

That鈥檚 because the victories are the fun part. They will also always be the most important thing, no matter the minutes played, the opposing players chased down or the occasional goal scored.

鈥淲e鈥檙e chasing after trophies,鈥� Keller said. 鈥淪o, we want more.鈥�

Being 鈥渁 unicorn鈥� will certainly help.
