At Milne, the Bulldogs (2-0-1) held off Cibola (0-3) in a tight defensive matchup.

Adam Aguirre threw a 30-yard touchdown pass to Giovanni Rivera, and Deven Poole scored on a 3-yard run for the Bulldogs. The Poole TD was set up by Julian Madera鈥檚 long run that got the Bulldogs into the red zone.

At Nusenda Community Stadium, the Huskies  (3-0) got another big night from senior receiver Darrien Williams, who scored three touchdowns 鈥� for the second straight week 鈥� in a dominant win over the Jaguars (1-2).

Kane Otero added a pair of rushing scores for the Huskies.

鈥�> Centennial 37, Artesia 14

At the Field of Dreams in Las Cruces, the Hawks (1-2) won their home opener as the defending Class 5A state champions are off to an 0-3 start for the first time in over 40 years.

Dailen Ramirez and quarterback Ruiz Laborin both scored on short runs in the first half, and the Hawks led 17-0 at intermission.

Ramirez returned the opening kickoff of the second half 88 yards for a score and a 24-0 bulge.

Artesia scored both its touchdowns in the final 100 seconds of the game.

Fourth-ranked 近距离内射合集 Vista got it done in all three phases against La Cueva, and the Hawks led for all but five minutes in an impressive 42-31 win over the second-ranked Bears on Friday night at Nusenda Community Stadium.

鈥淕etting those guys is a big win for our program,鈥� Hawks coach Chad Wallin said.

Junior quarterback Jude Herrera, who has been off to a flying start for 近距离内射合集 Vista (3-0), rushed for three touchdowns, all under 10 yards, and he also threw for a score for the Hawks in their final nondistrict contest.

When Sandia had finally gathered for its postgame huddle, Tylon Wilder decided he wouldn鈥檛 be the one to speak to the players.

Instead, the coach ceded the space at the center of the semicircle to the Matadors鈥� four captains 鈥� Jahleel Lewis, Mateo Hogan, Aiden Maldonado and Isaac Sullivan.

The four had earned the right to talk, one after the other, after Friday鈥檚 game against Eldorado.

鈥淵eah, that was a sloppy game, but what I loved was our heart,鈥� Maldonado said. 鈥淭hat game went into what, two overtimes? 鈥� Nobody gave up and I love every single one of you.鈥�

Yes, it did go into a pair of extra periods. And no, Sandia didn鈥檛 quit.

In Amarillo, Class 6A鈥檚 top-ranked Storm (3-0) kept their unbeaten streak alive, as quarterback Michael Denison threw a 7-yard touchdown pass to Noah Valler with 37 seconds left.

鈥�> Roswell 39, Rio Rancho 35

At Wool Bowl, a late, 6-yard touchdown pass to Danny Castro with just over four minutes to go capped a wild night as the Coyotes (2-1) came from behind to down the Rams (1-2).

鈥�> Belen 35, Los Alamos 21

In Belen, Gonzalo Cano threw a pair of touchdown passes to Vicente Story, and Cano also scored on a sneak for a score as the Eagles (3-0) downed the Hilltoppers (1-2).

Jeremiah Lord and Ramon Martinez added touchdown runs for Belen.

鈥�> Goddard 28, Los Lunas 23

In Los Lunas, the Rockets (1-2) built up a 28-7 lead but had to hold off a furious Tigers (1-2) rally in the fourth quarter.

Jose Porras had two touchdown catches for Goddard, and Jesus Ortiz intercepted two passes for the Rocket defense.

鈥�> Moriarty 51, Albuquerque Academy 20

In Moriarty, Mario Romero rushed for 179 yards and three touchdowns covering 60, 18 and 14 yards and the Pintos (3-0) continued their extremely impressive start with a rout of the Chargers (1-2).

Mateo Griego-Manley added 146 rush yards, and scored on runs of 42 and 33 yards.

Noah Wolf had an interception and fumble recovery for the Moriarty defense.

鈥�> St. Pius 54, Pagosa Springs, Colo. 28

In Pagosa Springs, senior running back Hershul Olloway Jr., scored four touchdowns 鈥� two rushing, two receiving 鈥� and the Sartans (2-1) won on the road.

Curtis Flakes III caught five balls for 190 yards and two scores for the Sartans. Quarterback Isaiah Carpenter threw for 358 yards on just 11 completions, and four TDs.

Freshman Cy Saenz added two rushing touchdowns for St. Pius.

鈥�> Valencia 47, Miyamura 13

In Tome, senior quarterback Santino Mares rushed for 150 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for a score as the Jaguars (3-0) remained perfect, easily handling the Patriots (0-3).

Danny Cristian added a pick-6 for Valencia. Nicholas Herrera, Malachi McCoy and Dominik Suarez scored on running plays for the Jags. 

鈥�> Valley 49, Rio Grande 37

At Milne Stadium, Jeremiah Garcia threw three touchdown passes, and the Vikings (1-2) beat the Ravens (0-3).

Gabriel Gonzales, Levi Paulus and Michael Garcia each caught a TD pass.

Zach Perez rushed for two touchdowns for Valley.

At Nusenda Community Stadium, the Mustangs (2-1) pulled away in the second half, outscoring the Hornets (2-1) 23-0 after halftime.

West Mesa rushed for five touchdowns 鈥� two each from Noah Jackson and Isaiah Cazares, and a fifth from Chris Martinez 鈥� as the Mustangs took control.

It was Highland running the ball effectively in the first half, which ended 14-12 for West Mesa.

鈥淲e were having trouble getting them off the field,鈥� Mustangs coach Landrick Brody said. The West Mesa offense has had to change tone a bit since starting quarterback Jericho Brody broke his collarbone on the second drive of the game in Week 2, an eventual 41-39 victory over Valley. He鈥檚 going to miss a large chunk of the regular season.

鈥�> Manzano 54, Del Norte 14

At Milne Stadium, the Monarchs (1-2) gave new head coach Michael Holguin his first victory with the program as they rolled past the Knights (0-3) in a District 1-4A opener.

Junior Broden Price scored three touchdowns for Manzano 鈥� two on the ground 鈥� and also a 67-yard punt return for a score. He also recovered a fumble on defense.

Vinny Varela had a pair of TDs, one in the air and one rushing. Jared Carter registered a pick-6 for the Monarchs.

鈥�> St. Michael鈥檚 42, Robertson 0

In Santa Fe, Class 3A鈥檚 top-ranked Horsemen (3-0) won their 35th straight game, as they belted the fourth-ranked Cardinals (1-2) in a District 1-3A opener.

St. Mike鈥檚 scored 21 of its 35 first-half points in the final 4陆 minutes of the second quarter.
