North Rim of Grand Canyon campground reopens

Online reservations at recreation.gov are available through Oct. 15

The Grand Canyon Lodge pre-demolition (October 2025) and post-demolition (November 2025) after damage from the Dragon Bravo fire.

The campground at the reopened June 1, for the first time since the Dragon Bravo Fire in 2025 destroyed its historic lodge.

"We鈥檙e excited to welcome campers back to the North Rim Campground beginning Monday, June 1, 2026," said the Grand Canyon National Park Facebook page in a post.

Online reservations at recreation.gov are available through Oct. 15.

Many buildings on the North Rim were completely razed by the fire, including the historic lodge and bathrooms, and the area was closed to all visitors.

鈥淣estled among ponderosa pines and aspens at 8,200 feet, the North Rim Campground offers a peaceful and scenic basecamp for exploring the North Rim鈥檚 trails, viewpoints, and spectacular canyon vistas," according to the NPS website.

Some things to know according to the park service:

  1. Potable water is not available but can be purchased at the general store.

  2. Portable toilets are available.

  3. Showers will remain closed for the 2026 season.

The lodge inside the park at the North Rim will not be open during the 2026 season, according to the NPS.
